By way of introduction...
SoloGig News is all news, all-the-time, all for freelancers.
Call it "news you can use" for the ever-growing freelance set. That's anything that sheds light on how to find business, keep business, work more productively, manage your own books, pay your taxes, solve your own tech problems, find health insurance and more.
You need this intel because-- if you haven't noticed-- as a freelancer you don't have a human resources or IT department. Somebody has to do this stuff, and that somebody is going to be you.
There was a day when freelancers were a a veritable rarity in our economy. The term was generally a rationalization, used to soften reality by out-of-work folks who were actually on the prowl for another chance to be chained to their corporate cubicle.
Times have changed. We not only don't have to be employees anymore, we don't want to be employees anymore. The chains are banished, the cubicle replaced by your couch and a laptop.
Thanks to the Internet, life as a free agent these days is more than just liberating. It's more lucrative and more challenging, as well as more of an advantage for employers then they ever could have imagined. Better talent and more productivity at less overall cost? What's not to like?
Alas, freelancing is here to stay and so are we. We'll be writing right here seven days a week, or whenever news permits.
